Spring

Services:

Plow Damage Repair: No matter how careful your plow guy is, damage happens. Fixing plow damage may include restoring soil and re-seeding grass or replacing/resetting decorative edging and surfaces. Property with gravel driveways may need power sweeping to return stones from lawn to driveway, best done after mud season. Sand and grit is removed from paved driveways.

Lawn De-Thatch & Aeration: Thatch and poor air circulation harm lawns. A de-thatched and aerated lawn efficiently delivers air, moisture and nutrients to grass roots. Your lawn will be healthy, green and less prone to weeds and fungus.

Winter Debris Removal: Quite a mess can lie under the beautiful snow! We remove fallen branches, dead leaves and other unsightly debris from yard and gardens. Sand is swept from driveways and walkways. Your property will look good and get off to a healthy start.

Winter Plant/Deer Browse Protection Removal: Protective covers are carefully removed, giving  plantings much needed sunshine and fresh air! Snow fences can be removed, too.

Small Tree Work: Certain trees and shrubs are best pruned and shaped before new growth occurs. Damaged branches are removed.

Garden Preparation and Opening: Winter debris and plant protection is removed. Weeds are pulled - they sprout first and fast! Soil is turned and enriched to give perennials and new plants the best possible start. Perennials are divided and new garden favorites added.

Fertilizing: Soil nutrients are replenished. We use and recommend organic, sustainable products.  Depending on need, we may put down a layer of compost, utilize compost tea or enrich the soil in other ways.

Mulching: A well applied layer of mulch helps conserve water and keeps weeds down. It puts nutrients into the soil as it decomposes. We use only undyed, natural mulch. An added benefit - mulched beds give your property a finished look.

Thank you and your crew for the great work as always.

Summer

Services:

Lawn Care: It takes knowledge to promote healthy growth and keep the underlying soil rich in nutrients and microbes. Mowing very short too early in the season places your lawn at risk for drying out, weed invasion and heat damage. Letting it grow too long creates an ideal habitat for pests like voles, ticks and mosquitoes. Adhering to a rigid mowing schedule without regard to rainfall or the condition of the lawn may do damage. We evaluate your lawn before we mow - and may add or skip a mow if it is better for your lawn's health.

The right equipment, used in the right place, makes a difference. Hilly terrain and mowing around unique landscape features such as trees, garden beds and rocks may require a different mower and technique. Some areas must be hand-mowed. We edge, weed whack and remove grass clippings from driveways and walkways.

Lawns need to be fed and aerated to maintain healthy grass and soil. Pest control should be part of a lawn care program. Sustainable and organic products are recommended. A comprehensive lawn care program from Spring through Fall will keep your lawn healthy and beautiful.

Fine Gardening: We’ll bring your garden to peak beauty and keep it there. We plant, weed, fertilize, improve the soil, and apply compost and mulch. We open the garden in the spring and close it in the fall. We edit overgrown and neglected gardens and recommend and use organic, sustainable products and methods.

Regularly scheduled garden maintenance is the best and most cost-effective way to keep your garden healthy, weed-free and full of beautiful blossoms.

Landscaping & Grounds Maintenance: Every property has different needs. Projects may be one time, or take place over a season or more. We plant trees, build and install raised garden beds, get overgrown gardens back on track, and create wildflower meadows from lawns. We open views, create gardens from scratch, prune trees and trim shrubs. We edit gardens and landscapes, and plant native and pollinator plants.

Thank you for a great job on our flowerbeds! New client

Fall

Services:

Leaf removal: To keep your lawn healthy, fallen leaves must be removed. They can be mulched and applied to garden beds or carted away for composting.

Fall Fertilization: Your lawns and gardens will benefit from the application of a good organic fertilizer, layer of compost, and mulch. They supply the nutrients that give grass and plants a good start in the Spring.

Plant Protectors: Protect plants and shrubs from cold weather and icy winds, as well as hungry deer! We build and install (or use your existing) plant protectors. Burlap wraps protect expensive, deer-preferred hedges and shrubbery!

Closing the Garden: Gardens are weeded, seasonal plants removed and perennials cut back. Beds are fertilized. Spring bulbs are planted. A thick layer of mulch is laid down for insulation, and to supply soil nutrients.

Planting Trees and Tree Work: Fall is a great time to plant trees. It gives them a head start in the Spring. They need a few months to “put down their roots,” so it can’t be left until too late. Established trees and shrubs trees benefit from a fall “tidy-up” - pruning and removing dead or damaged branches.
